Thankfully everyone else is safe. I think of you all and the good times we had in Peoria every time I see a tsavorite. Campbell was truly a great man and an important figure in the gem world. I never met Campbell. However, I feel I almost know him. I call on many jewelers with my business and a couple of them knew him well. They related a few stories to me about him. As I said, I never met him, but I feel like I lost a friend. It hurts to know I will never meet him. May God be with all of you to get through this very trying time. While I have never known Mr. Bridges he has always been the most impressive person I have been had the please of following in his career. His adventures and help to the native people, discovery of such a beautiful stone have lead to my personal collection of tsavorite. My favorite stone. He will be missed. Have only just read about him on the Telegraph's website. A fascinating story. I was out in Kenya on holiday as a schoolboy with my sisters and parents, briefly, in 1967 when Campbell must have making his discovery of Tsavorite, but completely unaware of his work of course. It was quite easy to get out there when were were living in Aden at that time. My wife comes from Colombia, famous for its emeralds, which she is very proud of. Must tell her about Tsavorite's splendour. Very sorry to hear of Mr Bridges sudden death. Have only just read about him on the Telegraph’s website. A fascinating story.
